One of the biggest tasks of mankind in the 21st century is to protect the environment. Although rubber, plastics and synthetic fibers are closely related to human life, most of them can not be decomposed naturally, and their wastes will cause white pollution. Since the 1960s, people began to research and develop biodegradable polymers and their products, In order to protect the environment, poly lactic acid (PLA), which has just been industrialized in the late 1990s, is one of the most promising ones.

PLA polylactic acid chip is made from corn and other starch biomass or straw cellulose as raw materials. Lactic acid is obtained by microbial fermentation and extraction, and then refined, dehydrated and oligomerized, pyrolyzed and polymerized.


Material performance

At present, there are two main methods for synthesis: one is chemical polymerization, and PLA can be obtained by direct condensation of lactate, or by ring opening polymerization of dimer lactide.
PLA is the most important biodegradable and environment-friendly polymer material in aliphatic polyester. Its monomer lactic acid can be produced on a large scale by fermenting corn and other food crops, so it can completely get rid of the dependence on petroleum resources.
PLA material has excellent biodegradability. In the natural environment, under the action of bacteria and water, it can be completely degraded into carbon dioxide and water, which is harmless to the environment and can completely solve the problem of "white pollution".
At the same time, PLA is a kind of thermoplastic polymer, which has the advantages of high strength and high modulus. It can be processed by traditional processing methods such as extrusion, molding, pouring molding, melt spinning, liquid spinning, blow molding and so on.

PLA, also known as polylactic acid fiber, has excellent drapability, smoothness, moisture absorption and air permeability, natural bacteriostasis, skin soothing weak acidity, good heat resistance and anti UV linearity. This kind of fiber does not use petroleum and other chemical raw materials, and its waste can be decomposed into water and carbon dioxide under the action of microorganisms in soil and sea water, which will not pollute the earth's environment. Because the initial raw material of this kind of fiber is starch, its regeneration cycle is short, about 1 to 2 years, and its content in the atmosphere can be reduced by plant photosynthesis. The combustion heat of PLA fiber is about one third of that of polyethylene and polypropylene. PLA fiber is based on natural renewable plant resources, which reduces the dependence on traditional oil resources and meets the requirements of sustainable development of the international community. Corn fiber has the advantages of both synthetic fiber and natural fiber, and has the characteristics of complete natural circulation and biodegradation. Compared with traditional fiber materials, corn fiber has many unique properties. It is used for biodegradable self-adhesive bags, biological full degradable zipper bags,biodegradable waste bags, biodegradable non-woven fabrics (food packaging, seasoning bags, tea bags, mask, facial mask, surgical table cloth, disposable surgical clothing, sanitary napkin, dust-proof bag, desert tree bag, filter cloth, etc.)
