Tissue structure of masks (1)
Common masks in the market are mainly composed of three layers, the outermost layer is usually made of polypropylene spunbonded non-woven fabric (PP spunbonded non-woven fabric).
It has a certain waterproof function, can prevent a small amount of liquid, droplets into the mask and a certain support function.

The middle layer is usually made of polypropylene melt-blown non-woven cloth (high-efficiency melt-blown filter cloth), which is the most important barrier and filter for bacterial viruses.
The innermost layer usually uses hydrophilic spunlace non-woven fabric, which is mainly used to absorb moisture to ensure that the wearer's lips are dry and comfortable.

What are the characteristics of these materials?
(1) Spunbond nonwovens: Spunbond nonwovens use chemical fiber spinning forming principle.In the process of polymer spinning, continuous filament fibers are laid into a net, which is reinforced by mechanical, chemical or thermal bonding and made into a cloth. Its structural characteristics make it randomly composed of continuous filament fibers and have very good physical and mechanical properties.Spun-bonded non-woven fabric
(2) Melt-blown nonwovens: Melt-blown nonwovens use high-speed hot air flow to draft the thin flow of polymer melt extruded from the spinneret holes in the die head.From this formation of ultrafine fiber and collection in the coagulation curtain or drum, at the same time their own adhesion and become melt-blown nonwovens.After being drawn by high-speed hot air flow, the fiber fineness of the material is relatively fine, and the random distribution of fibers provides more opportunities for thermal bonding between fibers.
Therefore, melt-blown nonwovens have larger specific surface area and higher porosity (≥75%) than conventional nonwovens.

(3) Spunlaced non-woven fabric
Spunlaced nonwovens: Spunlaced nonwovens are made by spraying a high pressure stream of fine water onto a web of one or more fibers to entangle each other.
So that the fiber net can be strengthened and have a certain strength, the fabric is spunlaced non-woven fabric.The material feels soft and fluffy, with high moisture absorption performance.
There are a variety of masks on the market,How are they classified?
Ordinary civilian mask: ordinary civilian mask is a daily health care product, mainly used to keep out the cold, its material and specifications have no unified requirements, no special effect on disease prevention.It is generally composed of 3 layers, the surface layer is woven and knitted fabric, the middle is non-woven wadding layer, the inner layer is mostly pure cotton knitted fabric, soft to the touch.Due to the relatively large gaps and holes in each layer of fabric, it can only play a certain role in filtering large particles of dust in the air, but can not effectively screen and filter PM2.5 fine dust particles.
(2) Single-use medical masks: They are designed to prevent infection between doctors and patients or by medical staff inhaling germs from the environment.The outer layer of the mask is water-resistant to reduce the wearer's exposure to pathogens in a patient's blood or fluids.
(3) Surgical masks: Standard surgical masks are usually composed of 3-4 layers. The outer layer is waterproof to prevent droplets from entering the mask, the middle layer acts as a filter, and the inner layer near the nose and mouth is used to absorb moisture to ensure the wearer's lips are dry and comfortable.Ultrafine fiber is generally used as melt-blown nonwoven material in filter element, and the ultrafine fiber is randomly arranged to form a large number of microscopic pores. The mask is designed to be folded to enhance the mask's close contact with the wearer's face, and can block more than 90 percent of the particulate matter of 5μm.Because the filter material is thinner, the resistance of air filtration is greatly reduced, and the comfort is better.
(4) Medical protective mask: also known as N95 mask, N means that the mask is suitable for use in non-oily occasions, 95 means that the mask can filter out more than 95% of the fine dust volume ≥0.3μm during use.This kind of mask originally refers to the industrial dust prevention safety protective mask conforming to the national occupational safety registration standard.
